Passage 7: Poverty remains a significant challenge in Ghana, despite the country's growing economy. Many Ghanaians, particularly those in rural areas, struggle to afford basic necessities like food, shelter, and healthcare. High levels of unemployment, especially among the youth, contribute to the persistence of poverty, as many young people are unable to secure jobs that provide a sustainable income. The effects of poverty are far-reaching, affecting access to education, healthcare, and other essential services. Children from poor households are more likely to drop out of school, limiting their future employment prospects and perpetuating the cycle of poverty. Poor access to healthcare services also increases the likelihood of preventable diseases, further weakening families economically. The government of Ghana has introduced various programs aimed at reducing poverty. These include initiatives to promote entrepreneurship and skills development, especially among the youth, as well as social intervention programs like the Livelihood Empowerment Against Poverty (LEAP) program, which provides financial support to the most vulnerable. In addition, the government is working to improve access to education and healthcare to uplift poor communities. 1. In two sentences, one for each, state two causes of poverty in Ghana. 2. In three sentences, one for each, state three effects of poverty in Ghana. 3. In three sentences, one for each, state three solutions implemented by the government to reduce poverty in Ghana.
