Reference: Response to the article titled “The indiscipline acts of the Damu community,”

published in The Daily Times on 15th August 2024.

I am writing to address the article recently published in the Daily Graphic, which harshly

criticised our community for what was described as "indiscipline acts." While we recognise

that no community is without its challenges, the tone of the article was unnecessarily

mocking and dismissive. It is crucial to provide a more balanced perspective on the situation,

as the article failed to reflect the true character and efforts of our community.

Firstly, it is important to acknowledge that our community is not indifferent to the issues of

indiscipline. On the contrary, we have been actively working to address these concerns

through various initiatives. We have organised community meetings, launched educational

programs, and collaborated closely with local authorities to promote better behaviour and

accountability among our members. These efforts are starting to show positive results, and

it is disheartening that the article chose to ignore these important strides.

Moreover, our community is built on strong values of respect, unity, and mutual support.

While there may be instances of indiscipline, they do not define who we are. The vast

majority of our members are committed to upholding these values and work hard to
