THE CAUSES OF TEENAGE PREGNANCY IN THE COUNTRY

    The recent increase in the number of teenage pregnancies in the country has generated

a lot of public debate in the media. As a citizen, I would like to express my view on the causes

of teenage pregnancy in the country. There are several causes of teenage pregnancy in the

country. The causes of teenage pregnancies in the country are inadequate parental care,

poverty, and peer influence. Below are the details of the causes of teenage pregnancy in the

country.

I believe a major cause of teenage pregnancy in the country is inadequate parental care.

Parents do not take good care of their children. Most parents in the country do not offer their

children food, accommodation, and clothing. In addition, parents do not give their children

moral training. They are always busy with their work due to the economic hardships in the

country. As a result, most children take care of themselves. An option for the children,

especially the teenage girls, is to beg or extort money from men for sex. The effect is that the

girls may get pregnant through premarital sex, consequently leading to untimely death

through illegal abortion. The way forward is for parents to offer adequate care. I think this

can be achieved if the government offers encouragement to parents to take adequate care of

their children.

In addition, in my opinion, poverty is a cause of teenage pregnancy in the country. The

poverty levels of families in the country are high. Many families in the country cannot get

money to give their children's basic needs, such as food, clothing, and accommodation. This

can be explained by the fact that the economic hardships in the country do not let parents

get gainful employment. As a result, the children, in most cases, are encouraged by parents
