                             PARTS OF ESSAY(WRITING)

Writing as used here does not mean handwriting, but it means writing of essays or stories

that are meant to instruct, inform or give knowledge. But we will limit writing in this book

to mean essay. Essay can be letters, arguments, speeches, descriptive, narrative, stories, etc.

Essays are like human beings; we were not created and formed like football where our parts

are joined. The human body includes the head, the body and the legs. Likewise, any piece of

writing has the head, the body, and the legs joined. For us to understand and write well

organized essays we need to go into details the meaning of parts of an essay and how to write

each part.

Parts of an Essay

The essay is made up three parts joined. The parts of the essay or paper are;

a. The introduction (head)

b. The body

c. The conclusion

   Let us go into details the parts of an essay. We are starting with the introduction.

Introduction of an essay

Introducing any essay is the summary or the shortened version of the whole essay. This

means that, the introduction must have the information that the essay will contain in a brief

form. For us to understand the introduction, we need to go into details the parts of the
