sentence.

1. She loves reading books during her free time.

2. The cat jumped onto the counter, but it quickly jumped back down.

3. When the sun set, the sky turned a brilliant shade of orange.

4. Sarah bought a new dress for the party.

5. Because it was raining, the soccer game was postponed, and everyone went home early.

Exercise 3:

Combine the following pairs of simple sentences to form compound sentences. Use

coordinating conjunctions (for, and, nor, but, or, yet, so).

1. She studied hard for the exam. She passed with flying colors.

2. The car broke down. We called a mechanic.

3. I was tired. I stayed up late to finish my project.

4. The cake was delicious. Everyone asked for seconds.

5. The weather was perfect. We decided to go on a picnic.
