Group Leader: Great job! Let's look at a passage that uses different types of sentences to

see how they work together.

Student 1: (On a crisp autumn afternoon, Emma decided to go for a walk in the woods. She

thought it would be a perfect way to enjoy the changing colors of the leaves. As she walked

along the trail, she spotted a family of deer grazing nearby. "What a peaceful scene!" she

whispered. She continued her walk, taking in the sights and sounds of nature.

"Do you often come here?" a voice called out. Emma turned to see an elderly man with a kind

smile. "Yes, I do," she replied, "It's my favorite place to unwind." The man introduced himself

as Mr. Thompson. They talked about their love for nature and shared stories of their walks

in the woods. Suddenly, Mr. Thompson said, "Let's walk together for a bit!" Emma agreed,

glad to have some company.

As they strolled, they saw a group of children building a fort with fallen branches. "Watch

out!" a girl shouted as a branch fell. Mr. Thompson quickly moved the branch aside and

smiled at the children. "Be careful next time," he said kindly.

After a pleasant walk, Emma and Mr. Thompson parted ways. Emma felt grateful for the

unexpected companionship. "What a delightful day this has been," she thought as she

headed home.)
