Indiscipline in schools has become a significant issue in Ghana, with students increasingly

disregarding school rules and engaging in disruptive behavior. Factors such as poor parental

supervision, inadequate enforcement of discipline by teachers, and the influence of social

media are contributing to the rise in indiscipline. Truancy, disrespect towards teachers, and

cheating in exams are common forms of misconduct observed in schools.

The effects of indiscipline in schools are profound, as it negatively impacts the learning

environment. Students who disrupt classes prevent others from learning, while truancy leads

to poor academic performance and high dropout rates. Additionally, the culture of disrespect

erodes the authority of teachers, making it harder to maintain order and foster a positive

learning environment.

To combat indiscipline in schools, the government and educational authorities have

introduced stricter disciplinary policies, with sanctions for students who break rules.

Teachers are also being trained to adopt more effective classroom management techniques.

Furthermore, there is a focus on increasing parental involvement in students’ education to

ensure proper behavior both at home and in school.
