Poverty continues to be a major issue in Ghana, despite improvements in the economy. Many

people, especially in rural areas, find it difficult to meet basic needs such as food, shelter,

and healthcare. Unemployment, particularly among the youth, remains a key factor

contributing to the high poverty levels, leaving many young people without stable income.

The effects of poverty are extensive, limiting access to essential services such as education

and healthcare. Children from poor families are often forced to drop out of school, which

diminishes their future opportunities.

Additionally, the lack of healthcare leads to the spread of preventable diseases, worsening

the economic situation for affected families.

To combat poverty, the government has introduced various social intervention

programs. These include initiatives like the Livelihood Empowerment Against Poverty

(LEAP) program, which provides financial aid to the most vulnerable. There are also

efforts to improve education and promote entrepreneurship to help people generate income

and escape poverty.
