Predicted/newly and tested steps in answering comprehension questions

   1. Read the first question for the demand of the question.

   2. Read the first paragraph to the second, locate the answer, and underline the answer

      in the passage.

   3. Write your answer and check grammatical errors.

   4. Repeat the steps in (1, 2, and 3) for the rest of the questions.

Importance of the steps

   1. Reading can take time and may eat into all your time, thereby making you unable to

      write the answer that is necessary. Using this method, you can answer some of the

      questions before time runs out.

   2. It makes you have ample time to answer fully what you can answer and earn the full

      marks.

At this point, the rules for answering comprehension passages will go a long way to help us.

Some guided rules for answering comprehension passages.

   1. The answer need not be in sentence form.

   2. Do not repeat questions when answering questions.

Eg., state the reason why the boy died.

Answer 1: The reason why the boy died is through motor accidents (not necessary).

Answer 2: The boy died through motor accidents (necessary).

   3. Answers must only be taken from the passage.

   4. Words to be used to replace words in a passage must adequately fit its meaning, tense,
      etc.

   5. Always check grammatical mistakes.
