How football is played

Games are numerous in this world. Some of the games include soccer, volleyball, tennis, and

many more. However, my best game is soccer (football). A football match is played between

two teams, each consisting of eleven players, on a rectangular field with a goal at each end.

The objective of the game is to score more goals than the opposing team within the match's

duration, typically two halves of 45 minutes each, with a 15-minute break at halftime.

The match begins with a kickoff from the centre of the field, with one team starting by

passing the ball to a teammate. Players move the ball around the field using their feet, head,

and body (excluding hands and arms) while trying to advance towards the opponent’s goal.

The goalkeeper is the only player allowed to use their hands, but only within the penalty area

surrounding their goal.

Teams employ various strategies and formations to maintain possession, defend against

attacks, and create scoring opportunities. Players must work together, passing the ball,

dribbling, and positioning themselves effectively to outflank the opposing team. When a

player successfully kicks the ball into the opposing team’s goal, a point is awarded, and the

match continues with a kickoff from the team that conceded the goal.

The game is governed by a set of rules known as the Laws of the Game, which are enforced

by the referee. Fouls, such as illegal tackles or handballs, can result in free kicks, penalties,

or yellow/red cards depending on the severity of the offense. The match ends after the

allotted time, and the team with the most goals is declared the winner. In some cases, if the

score is tied, the match may go into extra time or be decided by a penalty shootout,

depending on the competition’s rules.
