Question: Write for or against the motion before the house's boarding school system is better

than the day school system’.

BOARDING SCHOOL SYSTEM IS BETTER THAN DAY SCHOOL SYSTEM

Mr. Chairman, Panel of judges, Invited guests, timekeepers, co-debtors, fellow students,

ladies and gentlemen. The motion before the house is that the ‘boarding school system is

better than the day school system’. I speak for the motion. The first speaker argued that the

dayschool system is cheaper than the boarding school system in terms of school fee payment.

He further stated that, under the dayschool system, students got good nutrition in their diet

since their parents cooked for them. What a falsehood! However, Mr. Chairman, day school

is expensive in that students spend a lot of money on transport and feeding compared to

their counterparts, who only pay feeding fees. Also, day students do not eat a well-balanced

diet since their parents are not nutritionists compared with well-trained mothers at the

boarding schools. There are several reasons boarding school is far better than day school.

The reasons are improvement in academic performance, better unity in the country, and

improvement of the values of students.

Mr. Chairman, Ladies and gentlemen, the first reason the boarding school system is better

than the day school system is that boarding school helps to improve the academic

performance of students. Performances of students in boarding schools are far better than

in day schools. Boarding school students get a lot of time for their studies without

disturbances. This can be explained by the fact that there is a well-planned arrangement for

students to learn every day that is supervised by the school authorities. The contrast is the

day school. Day students do not learn by supervision. Also, day students do not have well

laid out plans for studies as they are disturbed by parents to buy or pick something for them.
