                                 DEBATE WRITING

Debate is part of an argument in a speech form intended to persuade the audience to vote

for or favour our side of the argument.

Format/ features

Debate writing should follow the format below.

   1. Heading

   2. Body

   3. Introduction

   4. Main body

   5. Conclusion

Heading

The heading is the motion before the house to debate before the audience or the house. It

must be in capital or capitalise and underlined.

Introduction to debate writing

A debate is a speech written to be delivered in a persuasive manner (argument) before the

audience to support your side of the argument. Therefore, the speech must be persuasive

enough to change the heads (minds) of listeners.
