A SPEECH DELIVERED BY MR. KOLO ON THE WAYS TO PRESERVE THE

FOREST IN GHANA DURING ANNUAL GREEN DAY IN AMOH JHS

Mr. Chairman, distinguished guests, esteemed teachers, fellow students, and Ladies and

Gentlemen. Good morning to you all. It is with great pleasure that I stand before you today

on this momentous occasion—our school's annual green day. This day holds special

significance as we gather to celebrate the beauty of our environment and to reflect on our

collective responsibility to protect it, particularly our precious forests in Ghana.

Mr. Chairman, as we are all aware, Ghana’s forests are not just a source of natural beauty;

they are the lifeblood of our nation, providing essential resources, preserving biodiversity,

and contributing significantly to our economy. However, these forests are under severe

threat due to various human activities. It is, therefore, incumbent upon us to explore and

implement strategies to ensure their preservation.

Distinguished Guests, one of the most critical steps we can take is to promote reforestation

efforts. Replanting trees in areas where forests have been depleted is an effective way to

restore balance to our ecosystems. By involving ourselves in tree-planting initiatives, we

contribute directly to the recovery of our forests and the sustenance of our environment.

Esteemed teachers, another crucial measure is the support of sustainable logging practices.

While logging is necessary for economic reasons, it must be conducted in a manner that does

not deplete our forest resources irreparably. By advocating for responsible and regulated

logging, we can ensure that our forests continue to thrive.

Fellow students, it is vital that we educate ourselves and others about the importance of

forest conservation. Through education and awareness, we can foster a generation that

values and actively works to protect our natural environment. Let us commit to being the

ambassadors of this cause in our homes and communities.
