The use of tables in essays

A table makes reading and explanations easier. When we have so many statistics to talk

about, we use tables to represent those long records or statistics.

How to use the table

Steps

ü Make a table with columns and rows, representing items, periods, and their

   corresponding figures.

ü Provide the source of the information in the table.

ü Linked paragraph to the table.

Illustrative example

The table below shows the performance of the school in the recent BECE since 2010.

From the table above, the school performances are poor, as the average passed for the

periods is less than 10%. This performance, I am afraid, if not checked, would translate to

the coming year.
