Identifying Paragraph Types

Read the following paragraphs and identify whether they are descriptive, narrative,

expository, or persuasive.

1. "The library is a quiet sanctuary filled with rows of books. The scent of old paper and ink

fills the air. The soft rustling of pages and the gentle hum of the air conditioner are the only

sounds breaking the silence."

2. "Exercise is crucial for maintaining a healthy lifestyle. It helps to improve cardiovascular

health, strengthen muscles, and boost mental well-being. Regular physical activity can also

help in weight management and reduce the risk of chronic diseases."

3. "Last weekend, we went to the amusement park. The rides were thrilling, and the

atmosphere was electric with laughter and screams of excitement. We spent the entire day

enjoying the attractions, eating cotton candy, and taking pictures."

4. "Recycling should be mandatory in all communities. It reduces waste in landfills,

conserves natural resources, and protects the environment. By recycling, we can significantly

decrease pollution and save energy. Therefore, everyone should make an effort to recycle."
