2. Elements of a narrative paragraph

Characters: Characters are the people, animals, or beings in a story. Any time you

introduce a character, write the background information and the present situation.

Visiting the Village of Nkwanta

Nestled in the green hills of the Eastern Region, the village of Nkwanta is a place where time

seems to have stood still. This charming settlement, with its thatched-roof cottages and

narrow, winding paths, offers a glimpse into a simpler way of life. As you arrive, the sight of

vibrant green fields stretching out under the clear blue sky greets you, and the gentle

murmur of the nearby river creates a serene soundtrack.

Nkwanta is a village rich in history and culture. The residents, known for their warmth and

hospitality, are predominantly farmers who cultivate cocoa, plantains, and maize. The village

square, adorned with a centuries-old baobab tree, serves as the community's heartbeat,

where elders share stories of the past and children play in the shade. The air is filled with the

sweet scent of blooming hibiscus flowers and the distant clucking of chickens roaming freely.

Presently, Nkwanta is experiencing a blend of tradition and modernity. While many homes

still rely on traditional methods of cooking and farming, there are signs of gradual change.

A new school building, constructed with the help of a local NGO, stands proudly at the edge

of the village, symbolizing the community's hope for a brighter future. Solar panels dot the

rooftops, providing electricity to a handful of households, and a newly installed borehole

ensures that fresh, clean water is accessible to all.
