They finally became friends.

In the bustling town of Greenfield, two neighbouring families lived on opposite sides of Oak

Street. The Johnsons, a lively family with three energetic children, lived in a large, cheerful

house with a sprawling garden. On the other side lived the Smiths, a quiet, reclusive family

who kept to themselves and preferred a more secluded lifestyle.

One summer, a community fair was organised, and everyone in Greenfield was excited. The

Johnsons, known for their enthusiasm for such events, decided to set up a food stall, while

the Smiths chose to remain at home, avoiding the commotion.

As the fair began, the Johnsons’ stall became one of the most popular attractions. Their

delicious homemade pies and friendly demeanour drew crowds of visitors. The Smiths, from

their window, observed the lively activity across the street and felt a mix of curiosity and

unease about the bustling event.

As the day went on, the Smiths’ young son, Tim, who was usually quite shy, became intrigued

by the festivities. He watched with fascination as children played games, adults chatted, and

the Johnsons’ stall buzzed with activity. Despite his parents’ reluctance, Tim decided to

venture out to see the fair for himself.

When Tim arrived at Johnson's stall, he was warmly welcomed by the children, who offered

him a slice of pie. Hesitant at first, Tim took a bite and was pleasantly surprised by how

delicious it was. The Johnsons noticed his shy demeanour and made an effort to include him

in the fun, inviting him to join their games and activities.

Tim’s initial hesitation began to fade as he engaged with the Johnsons. He found himself

laughing, playing, and enjoying the fair like never before. The Johnsons, in turn, were

delighted to have him there and appreciated his quiet, polite nature.
