The setting of a story

The setting is the atmosphere (place) where the story took place, including date if possible.

It can be a village, town, city, political, forest, etc., so you have to describe the set-up of the

place of the story.

The main characters and the spark-up event for plotting

This is where you introduce the main characters and the side of issues, plans, or plots to set

the scene rolling.

The main characters

The characters are the people that the story is built around. At times, the characters can be

the protagonist (main character) and antagonist (opposing character).

How do we introduce them in the introduction of the story? Here is an example.

Introducing setting and characters

Asempanaye, a farming community in the mist of Assango Forest, boasts of about 50

inhabitants. The people are mainly cocoa farmers. It is in this village that Adamada

and Akosuasa live. The Adamada’s parents were into cocoa farming, while Akosuasa’s

parents were into animal farming.

The spark-up event for the plotting of the event in the story

The spark-up event for plotting any story is the rational, or the reasons behind the topic of

the story. What happened for the story to develop into that line or for the action to start that

way? So, mention what happened to the buildup of the main event in the story. These clues

will help you in the plotting of stories.
