My Trip to Kwamekrom

My family and I visited Kwamekrom, our community, in December of last year. I was rather

excited, as it had been a while since our last visit. Early in the morning, as we drove out of

the city, the bustling streets gradually gave way to the broad, tranquil countryside. I could

see green fields and tall trees extending on both sides of the road, and the air felt cleaner. I

was eager to see Kwamekrom again because I knew we were getting closer to it.

The enormous baobab tree at the village's entrance caught my attention as soon as we arrived

in Kwamekrom.

It was just as I remembered, standing tall and proud. The roads were lined with palm trees,

and the houses, with their mud walls and thatched roofs, looked so cosy and welcoming. As

we walked to my grandparents’ house, I saw colourful flowers blooming in their garden and

ripe mangoes hanging from the trees. Everything felt calm and beautiful, so different from

the noise of the city.

My grandparents were so happy to see us. They gave us big hugs, and we spent the afternoon

sitting together, listening to stories about the village. Later, my cousins and I explored

Kwamekrom. We visited the river where everyone gets water, and I dipped my feet into the

cool, clear water. We also went to the market, where women were selling fresh fruits and

vegetables. The village was so peaceful, and I felt very connected to it.

As the sun began to set, casting a warm, golden light over the village, I knew our visit was

almost over. We had a delicious dinner with my grandparents, enjoying jollof rice and grilled

fish. We laughed, sang songs, and shared stories, making the evening really special. The next

morning, it was time to go. I felt a little sad as we packed our bags, but I knew I would always

remember this trip.
