A model informal letter

Question: Write a letter to your friend informing him or her about three reasons why he or

she should not quit school.

Hello Maa,

My heart missed a beat when I heard you want to quit school. EI! What a bad idea! My friend,

how are you? I hope you will change your decision. The reason for writing you this letter is

to inform you of the reasons why you shouldn’t quit school. Some of the reasons why you

shouldn’t quit schooling are that you will get support from me to complete the school, the

school can help you to acquire a job in the future, and the schooling will help you to support

your family financially.

Akos, you will get support from me to complete your school, so you shouldn’t quit. I’ve now

obtained a job that can support us in terms of paying your term fees. This will help you to be

able to pay your fees at ease without absenting yourself from school again. I will even give

you pocket money each day. Ah, what are friends for? It is time for me to repay all the good

things you did for me when my only grandfather, who had one foot in the grave, joined the

great grave of multitudes. Hmm, concerning your weakness in mathematics and English

language, I will personally plan and teach you to overcome the difficulties. I hope you know

that I am good at that. This will make the school a bed of roses to attend since you will find

learning difficult subjects at ease. So, Akos, never ever let that thought of you quitting the

school come to mind again. You now have a solution.

Akos, continuing schooling will help you secure jobs with a higher salary in the future.
