CHAPTER – NINETEEN
MINUTES WRITING
Minutes are the official written record of a meeting or event. They serve as a summary of
what was discussed, decided, and assigned during the meeting. Well-written minutes
provide a clear, concise, and accurate account of the meeting, helping participants to
remember decisions and actions and keeping a record for future reference.
Purpose of Meeting Minutes
• Documentation: Provide a record of decisions and discussions.
• Reference: Offer a basis for future meetings and actions.
• Accountability: Ensure that actions are followed up and completed.
• Transparency: Maintain a clear record for stakeholders.
Types of Minutes
Formal Minutes: Detailed, comprehensive records typically used in corporate or formal
settings.
Informal Minutes: Brief notes, often used in less formal settings or internal meetings.
