General impression/background method

Welcome. Under this method, you give the general impression of the topic. What the people

are saying on the topic (the negatives) and link it to your introduction. We are going to treat

the steps. Here are the steps.

Steps

   1. Show how the public perceives the topic or laments/cries over the topic.

   2. Show concern about joining the talk to bring out the topic.

   3. Bring out the sub-topics.

   4. Show readiness.

Let us go into the details of the steps. Here we go.

The woes of the public on the topic

The woes are the outcry of the people on the topic. So bring out the woes and lamentations

of the public on the topic. Thus, maybe what people were saying about the energy crisis in

the country (dumsor dumsor). Let us look at an example.

The recent increase in the number of teenage pregnancies has generated public debate,

especially in the media.

Introducing intentions of joining the talk

At this point, show your concern about joining the discussion. It is just like a talk show on

TV or radio. The callers express their intentions of joining the talk after lamenting what is

on the show.
