The introduction of an article is the summary of the entire article you are about to write.

Methods of writing an introduction to an article

There are two ways of writing the introduction of an article.

   1. Definition of the topic method

   2. General background method

The definition method

Under this method, the topic of the day must be defined before you proceed to write your

introduction. Here are the steps.

   •   Define the topic.

   •   Highlight the woes of the topic

   •   Bring out your sub-topics

   •   Show readiness

The definition of the topic

The definition of the topic is the meaning of the topic given to you to write an article. It can

be a dictionary meaning or meaning perceived by a group of people. Here, it is important to

define the topic well and, if possible, provide the source of your definition.
