Paragraph 1:

Trees are vital to our planet because they produce oxygen, which is essential for all living

creatures. Through the process of photosynthesis, trees absorb carbon dioxide and release

oxygen back into the air. This process not only helps to clean the air but also provides the

oxygen we need to breathe. In addition to producing oxygen, trees offer shade and shelter

for many animals. They also prevent soil erosion by holding the soil together with their roots.

Questions:

2. List three supporting details that explain why trees are important.

Paragraph 2:

Wearing a helmet when riding a bicycle is one of the most important things you can do to

stay safe. Helmets protect your head in case you fall or have an accident. Even a small fall

can cause a serious injury if you hit your head on the ground. Helmets are designed to absorb

the impact and reduce the chance of a head injury. Besides protecting your head, wearing a

helmet can also set a good example for others and encourage them to ride safely.
